Notes Praise be to God alone. May God bless our master Muhammad and his family, the jurist, the best, the best, the best religion, the honorable and noble Pasha, Sir Idris al-Sarraj. May God’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you for the best of our Lord, may God grant him victory. Then the most honorable one delivered your letter with the end of the case of Ahmed Ould Sayyed Idris al-Zammouri. I deplore his bad workmanship. I neglected this matter until he asked for his father’s mercy. I know, sir, by God, I did not neglect the arrival of the news to me. Ahmed fled on the run. I caught Ahmed on the run. His father has been in prison for a period of ten days, and he is still in prison until now. Then when the friend went, I also arrested his brother. The two defendants, Ahmed Al-Madhkoor and Al-Hasnawi, pleaded with the Sharia law, obedient to the olive broom, so give each one of them a guarantor for his attendance at your place. If Ahmed arrives with you, that is, otherwise his guarantor must bring him to you, God willing. Accordingly, I directed his brother who was sent to arrest him with Mr. Ibn Abd al-Karim Al-Qandusi. A man from here claimed against him for stealing a talis and hawaij from a hotel you had. He was a guard there and saw him here, so summon him to me, so we ask you to please do justice to his claimant, and that the aforementioned jurist, Mr. Idris Al-Zammouri, when he was arrested, I informed you of that. If it appears to our master that he was discharged for his request and his old age, then that is a disgrace, then you are more deserving of him than me. And peace and blessings be upon the 26th of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the year 1279.                           Your successor, Mr. Muhammad, may God grant him peace
