Praise be to God alone, our lover, the earthly jurist and leader, Sidi Idris Al-Sarraj. May God’s peace and mercy be upon you. After that, his bearer, the jurist Mr. Al-Tayeb Al-Masmoudi, is one of the students of knowledge here. He has a right over the mules of Fez and Asala who do not belong to him. He wanted to enter into the dispute with the rivals, but he was prevented from doing so. He asked us to write to you, saying that if you agree with him in the dispute with the rivals, and what you know is for the sake of God Almighty, and you are more deserving of them, taking into account his foreignness and affiliation with knowledge. Sharif and peace, and on the 3rd of Muharram in the year 1284 Muhammad al-Mahdi, may God be gracious to him
