Notes: At the end of the document, Abd al-Salam al-Dhuwaib describes himself as a “servant at the doorsteps of his author,” meaning that he is a disciple of Sheikh Abu al-Fayd Muhammad ibn Abd al-Kabir al-Kattani, and under the guidance of his sheikh, he established his printing press. Al-Dhuwaib used to write copies of books approved for lithography in his own handwriting, which is why Muhammad Al-Manouni called this category “typographic calligraphers.” It was written on the last page: “The new printing shop was sold near the shrine of Sidi Ahmed Chaoui from Fez, by its writer, Abdel Salam Al-Dhuwaib.” This text helps in knowing the name of the printing press and its location in the city of Fez. (Compare: Muhammad al-Manouni, Manifestations of the Awakening of Modern Morocco, vol. 2, pp. 290-291). |
