Notes
Praise be to God alone and may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad, the family of our lover and servant of our master, the dearest on earth, the leader, my master, Hajj Idris Al-Sarraj, may God protect you, and may God’s peace and mercy be upon you, for the best of our master, may God support him. We had written to you regarding Mr. Allal Shalal, ordering him to come to Tangier as requested by the British representative, and we mentioned to you that if he complied, we would find a deadline for you to travel, and if he refused to come here, we would find you a deadline in which to travel. So tell us that without criticizing him so that you can see what we do. I mentioned to you what the representative requested, that a man was a partner of his in Tafilalat, and he is there today. He made an account with him and went out to Shallal under the man’s responsibility, including the money of the merchants referred to. If that was as he mentioned, then he ordered the aforementioned partner to go with him to Tangiers to look into his matter. This includes the purpose for which we wrote to your Excellency, but no answer appeared to us, and the aforementioned Shallal wrote, “I mentioned to him that we wrote to you about a non-Muslim person, not about the aforementioned Fellali.” If we We made a mistake, so the letter was sent to us regarding this calamity if it needed to be corrected, because in our belief we did not mention blood in it, and now the man has been named for us, and he is Hajj Muhammad bin Al-Habib Al-Filali, whom we asked you to direct, so we responded to that so that we would know what to respond to his seeker, and on love and peace on the 4th of Rabi’ Al-Nabawi Al-Anwar in the year 1287 Muhammad Barqash, may God be kind to him.
