Notes Praise be to God alone, our lover, the earthly jurist, Mr. Idris al-Sarraj, may God’s peace and mercy be upon you, for the goodness of our Lord, may God grant him victory. After the sheikh of the sons of al-Hajj, we searched for those of them staying in the house of Ma Khoukh, and he replied that none of his children al-Hajj who were in our view had camped there. Rather, those staying there were the group of the sons of Jarrar who were at Bab Aftouh, and if they left it and camped in the house of Ma Khoukh, the sheikh of Laghouat assigned us to search for Laghouat, which you mentioned in the Nafula. He directs it to us, with love and peace, and on the 16th of Rabi’ 2 in the year 1280, and the summer of high status, in God’s name, my relief.
