Notes
Praise be to God, our beloved jurist, jurist, Muhtasib Al-Nahrir, who is, with all his virtues, two brothers in God, past and present, my favorite sir, Al-Sarraj, may God help you and may his peace and affections be upon you. The need has called for a mule to be freed from your glorious foreskin, thanks to heading on it to Zarhun to look closely at planting there for your brother and lover. As for our most abundant mule, he has been appointed to ride our brother, Sidi Muhammad, and the period of sunset is three days, God willing, and we will return it to your sovereignty. In the best condition, may God reward you on our behalf with the best reward, and if it were not for my knowledge that you do not return it to our face, we would not have numbered these letters to your lordship, brothers, and the aforementioned tillage in the company of our brother-in-law, your lover in the name of God, whose name is signed, is sympathetic to us, and he will, God willing, be with us, our duty, and it must be either yes, God willing, or no, may you rest in peace. May your excellency last, and in God’s thoughts you will improve your endeavors, and on the 12th of Muharram in the year 1315, your beloved. Al-Abbas bin Ali Al-Susi, may God be kind to him, and the lover of all, Idris bin Muhammad Al-Abadi, may God be kind to him
