Praise be to God alone, our beloved earthly jurist, Mr. Idris al-Sarraj, may God’s peace and mercy be upon you, for the goodness of our Lord, may God grant him victory. After that, Abd al-Dayem bin Ramadan, mentioned in the attached drawing, accompanied him by horse from the student, Ali al-Hajji, mentioned in the drawing, and he is still demanding the horse, and what appears to be a mithqal, and thirty-four mithqals paid as good news on their behalf. This case, all the sheikhs of al-Hajj’s sons, are aware of it, and the student Ali mentioned is under your hand in prison. We would like you not to release him until he breaks his fast. The plaintiff in his claim, and with love and peace, the 24th of Muharram in the year 1281 and the summer of high status in God, my relief
