Notes
Praise be to God alone And may God’s blessings be upon our master Muhammad and his family, our earthly lover, the servant of our master, the leader, Mr. Idris Al-Sarraj. Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you, for the best of our Lord, may God grant him victory. And after we received your letter, you mentioned that a woman named Shamah Al-Wazzaniyah, Ibrahim’s daughter-in-law, was here in Casablanca, borrowing a rope from a woman here, and I was told that she was here ready, and I asked to search for her and force her to bring the rope or its price. Know, may God protect you, that I searched for the woman you mentioned, the goal of the search, and we did not find her except a woman named Hachouma, the daughter-in-law of a man called Ibrahim Al-Shallah. So I went to her and asked her. He replied that she had no knowledge of this case and since her life she had never seen the city of Fez before. With love and peace, on the 21st of Jumada 1 in the year 1286 Muhammad bin Idris Al-Tijani.
