The beginning of the manuscript: Praise be to God who commanded the preservation of the children of the righteous (...) When I saw the death almost eradicating the good people from Banu Al-Fasi (...) for no offense, I decided to write a brief composition that would be stored as a reminder identifying their notables (...).
The end of the manuscript: Al-Hakim al-Tirmidhi included it and conveyed it to Abd al-Rahman ibn Samurah, may God be pleased with him. He said: I came bringing good news from the Battle of Mu’tah (...) and the one who sent me with the truth will find the son of Maryam from my nation as a successor to his disciples (...) and the emptiness of his writing was (...).
