The beginning of the manuscript: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful (...) Sheikh Muhyiddin Abu Zakaria Yahya bin Sharaf bin Hassan bin Hussein bin Muhammad bin Juma bin Haram Al-Nawawi said, may God sanctify his soul. Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, the Sustainer of the Heavens and the Earths, the Ruler of all creation (...) and I have seen the collection of forty more important than all of this, and they are forty hadiths that include all of that, and each hadith of them is a great rule of the religion. The scholars have described it as the orbit of Islam, or it is half of Islam (...) Then I follow it with a chapter on controlling the subtleties of its wording.
The end of the manuscript: Muhammad bin Ali told us, he said, I heard my father say, Abdullah bin Al-Mubarak said, “If you are afflicted with judgment, then you must follow suit.” Muhammad bin Ali told us, Al-Nadr told us, Ibn Aoun told us, on the authority of Ibn Sirin, he said, “This hadith is a religion, so look from whom you take your religion.” We completed the Book of Shama’il, which specializes in the most honorable means of our master, our support, our Prophet, and our Lord Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.
