Notes
The identification is not quite certain, and the author's name in the incipit does not quite agree with Brockelmann, S II, p. 205 (Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Isfarāyīnī, 1271-1346). Inscription: “Bismillāh al-Raḥmān al-Raḥīm. ʻAlī al-Isfarāʼinī ... wa-iʻlam inna man arāda an yatakallama fī maʻānī Kitāb Allāh taʻālá, baʻda an yaʻrifahā, fa-yajibu ʻalayhi an yaʻrifa al-nāsikh wa-al-mansūkh...” The beginning: “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to God, worthy of praise for Himself and His attributes... He said... Abu Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ali Al-Isfaraini... And know that whoever wants to speak about the meanings of the Book of God Almighty, after he knows them, must know the abrogated and the abrogated...” Fairly modern (18th century?) naskhī, in red and black. Occasional marginalia. Islamic binding, in yellow. No. 2 of 2 titles bound together. Text in Arabic, colophon in Arabic and Persian.
Sample Text
