Sample Text
Two loose folios from the Shāhnāmah, by Abū al-Qāsim Manṣūr (born around 935, in a village on the outskirts of the ancient city of Ṭūs Iran, died around 1020, in Ṭūs), a well-known Persian poet, author of the Shāh-nāmeh ("Book of Kings"), the Persian national epic, to which he gave a final and enduring form. Leaf 1, taken from the seventh chapter of the text, on Ardeshir being taken ill for six months (probably Ardashir I, King of Iran, died 241). Leaf 2, taken from the twelfth chapter of the text, on Yazdegerd (probably Yazdegerd III, King of Iran, died 651 or 652) hearing about the trials and tribulations of Kay Khosrow (a legendary king of Persia). Name of copyist and place and date of copying not mentioned, probably from the 18th century.
