Compared with the 1845 lithographed edition. Calligraphic naskhī, in black and gold, within gold line borders; Persian translation in red. 18th century(?) hand. Leaves numbered 1-149, but 43 is repeated. Islamic binding, in black. Romanization supplied by cataloger. Incipit: "Ḥaddathanā al-Sayyid al-Ajall Najm al-Dīn Bahāʼ al-Sharaf Abū al-Ḥasan Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Aḥmad ibn ʻAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn ʻUmar ibn Yaḥyá al-ʻAlawī al-Ḥusaynī, raḥimahu Allāh, qāla: Akhbaranā al-Shaykh al-saʻīd Abū ʻAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Shahrayār al-khāzin li-Khizānat Mawlānā Amīr al-Muʼminīn ʻAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, ʻalayhi al-salām, fī shahr Rabīʻ al-Awwal, min sanat sitta ʻashrata wa-khamsimiʼah qirāʼatan ʻalayhi wa-anā asmaʻu . Ahmed bin Ali bin Muhammad bin Omar bin Yahya Al-Alawi Al-Husseini, may God have mercy on him, said: The happy Sheikh Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ahmed bin Shahryar, the treasurer of the treasury of our Lord, the Commander of the Faithful, Ali bin Abi Talib, peace be upon him, informed us in the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal, in the year five hundred and sixteen. We read it while I was listening...” Script: Calligraphic naskhī, in black and gold. Binding: In dark brown leather, Type III (without flap). Decoration: Text within gold line borders; Persian translation in red. Colophon: No colophon. Text ends abruptly with a supplication: "... Ilāhī tarāka baʻd al-īmān bika tuʻadhdhibunī, am baʻda ḥubbī īyāka tubʻidunī, am maʻa rajāʼī li-raḥmatika wa-ṣafḥika taḥrimunī, am maʻa istijāratī bi-ʻafwika tusallimunī, ḥāshā li-wajhika al-karīm an tukhayyibanī, layta...” Conclusion: There is no conclusion. The text ends suddenly with a supplication: “...My God, do you see me tormenting me after believing in you, or after my love for you, you push me away, or do you deprive me of my hope in your mercy and forgiveness, or do you spare me when I seek refuge in your forgiveness? Far be it from your honorable face to disappoint me. I wish...” In Arabic. Part of the text with interlinear Persian translation.
