Notes
This booklet, Jamiʿ Masaʾil Daruriyah Namaz, begins with discussions on the oneness of Allah (tawhid bari taʿala) and praises of the Prophet (naʿat), before addressing various issues related to purification (taharah) and prayer (namaz). However, there was another purpose for its publication: it was transcribed by Munshi Muhammad Nathu, a renowned calligrapher known as Shirin Raqam. The aim was to promote the art of calligraphy and offer readers an opportunity to practice their calligraphy skills. The booklet encourages readers to learn to write beautifully by effectively connecting letters and mastering the elegant writing of extended letters and strokes. The term jali qalam translates to "bold" in English, referring to the weight of the script. This booklet serves as an excellent example of the Dihlawi nastaliq script. | Digitization for the Sufi Shrine Libraries of the Afghan-Pakistan Frontier collection was sponsored by the Modern Endangered Archives Program with funding from Arcadia. | public domain
