PONS has just discussed the new editions for 4 important European languages (English, French, Italian, Spanish, BA 9/08), in this issue there are now further tables for non-European languages. As usual, the focus is on clear conjugation tables for common verbs. There are 101 sample tables here, with one table per page containing all the forms commonly used in Arabic; in Arabic script and phonetic transcription. An alphabetical verb list with around 350 of the most commonly used Arabic verbs (with translation) is included in the appendix and refers to one of these sample tables. You will also find: an introduction to the standard Arabic language, an overview of grammatical terms, the alphabet and pronunciation, and explanations of the conjugation of Arabic verbs. For learners with basic knowledge in addition to "Grammar short & sweet Arabic (in this number), "Short Grammar Arabic" (BA 7/07) and language courses e.g. "Langenscheidt's practical textbook Arabic" (BA 2/08) or "Quick course Arabic for beginners and returners" (BA 9/07) are possible.
