The short treatise al-Maqāṣid al-saniyyah li-maʻrifat al-aǧsām al-maʻdiniyyah by the famous Egyptian historian al-Maqrīzī (d. 845/1442) deals with the classification of minerals, their medical uses and theories about their formation. For the first time, Käs presents a critical text edition with a German translation and detailed commentary. The basis for the edition of the Arabic text was primarily a Leiden codex, which was corrected by al-Maqri-zi himself and expanded with glosses. --, The short treatise entitled al-Maqāṣid al-saniyyah li-maʻrifat al-aǧsām al-maʻdiniyyah by the famous Egyptian historiographer al-Maqrīzī (d. 845/1442) deals with the classification of minerals, their medicinal uses and theories of their coming into being. Käs presents for the first time a critical edition of this text along with a German translation and a detailed commentary. The edition of the Arabic text is mainly based on the Leiden codex corrected and enlarged by al-Maqri-zi himself. --
