This file contains correspondence related to the granting of a concession to Petroleum Concessions Limited for the right to explore for oil in the Shaikhdom of Umm al-Quwain.
The file contains a copy of an agreement that was signed in 1938 between Petroleum Concessions Limited and Shaikh Ahmad bin Rashid Āl Mu‘allā, the ruler of Umm al-Quwain (folios 49-57) as well as a copy of a revised agreement signed in 1946 (folios 74-75).
The majority of the correspondence in the file is between British officials and oil company executives and is in English, but the file also contains some correspondence with Shaikh Ahmad that is in Arabic (with English translations).
