Notes This file contains correspondence between British officials related to two topics: 1) an increase in the number of Persians migrating across the Gulf to the Trucial Coast A name used by Britain from the nineteenth century to 1971 to refer to the present-day United Arab Emirates. , Sharjah in particular. This correspondence includes discussions regarding British concerns about the political consequecnes of this development (ff 2, 18-26). 2) a desire to replace a Persian employed at the Lighthouse Department on Tamb [Tunb] island with an Arab from Sharjah or Ras Al Khaimah and the subsequent appointment of a man named Hassan bin Ibrahim, also referred to as Hassan bin Abdullah (ff 5-17).
