Notes	This file contains correspondence between British officials concerning the activities of Shaikh Subah [Sabah] al Nasir as Subah [al-Sabah], a member of the ruling family of Kuwait. The majority of the correspondence in the file relates to an incident in 1948 when Shaikh Nasir is alleged to have killed a number of Iraqis smuggling sugar from Kuwait into Iraq. One of the slain Iraqis was a member of the Sa'dun tribe of Iraq and so his killing sparked a lengthy disagreement between members of this tribe and the al-Sabah. This disagreement and British attempts to mediate are discussed at length in the file. In addition to correspondence, the file contains a document prepared by the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. in Kuwait titled 'A Note on the Activities of Shaikh Subah Al Nasir Al Subah' (folios 6-7).
