This file contains correspondence regarding political developments in Dubai in 1938, specifically the tensions that developed between the ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Saʻīd bin Maktūm bin Hasher Āl Maktūm and members of the Al Bu Falasah branch of his tribe, as well as the related reform movement that emerged in the Shaikhdom in that year.
The correspondence contained in the file is a mixture of internal correspondence between British officials and correspondence with local Shaikhs, primarily the aforementioned Shaikh Said and Shaikh Mani' bin Rashid al Maktoum. The correspondence with local Shaikhs is in Arabic and accompanied by English translations.
