This file contains correspondence regarding the maintenance of law and order in Bahrain. Much of the correspondence in the file relates to the murder of a woman in Hedd (al-Hidd). This correspondence discusses whether or not the culprits of the murder (who were relatives of the woman killed) should be sentenced to death as well as the broader political implications of the case. Also enclosed is a letter regarding the case (in English and Arabic) from the Ruler of Bahrain, Shaikh Ḥamad bin ‘Īsá Āl Khalīfah to Captain George Ashmead Cole,
