Notes	Correspondence concerning two horses given to the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. (Lieutenant-Colonel Hugh Vincent Biscoe) by the King of Nejd and Hejaz, Bin Saud [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd] in 1932. The majority of the correspondence takes place between staff at the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. in Bahrain and the Political Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in Bushire in the wake of Biscoe’s sudden death in July 1932, and relates to attempts to dispose of the horses and their offspring. Aside from Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. and Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. staff, the file’s other principal correspondent is the Bahrain merchant Abdul Aziz Alqosaibi & Brothers [‘Abd al-‘Azīz al-Quṣaybī], who are charged with looking after the horses while a buyer is found, and regularly send invoices for expenses incurred in keeping the animals. Correspondence from Abdul Aziz Alqosaibi & Brothers is in Arabic, with some letters translated into English.
