Calligraphy album, by Mehmed Sa`id Berberzade. This album was created in Ottoman Istanbul, in 1733. The fine calligraphy was written out by a man who had studied under the master-calligrapher Mehmed Efendi (d. 1753), known as Şekerzade ("son of sugar") because his father was a confectioner. Codex, ink, colours and gold on paper, set into gold-flecked card mounts, 4 folios, Arabic text in naskh script, album of calligraphy quoting lines from the Hadith, signed Mehmed Sa`id Berberzade (d. 1774), pupil of Mehmed Shekerzada (Şekerzade Mehmed Efendi, d. 1753), Istanbul, Turkey, dated 1146H, 1733.
