Notes Akbar's forces shooting up at Hajipur fortress from boats on the Ganges, folio from the History of Akbar (Akbarnama) by Abu’l-Fazl. Detached folio, ink, pigments and gold on paper, Persian text with full-page tinted drawing (nim qalam), half of double-page composition attributed to Mukund, Agra, India, c. 1603-1605. This is one of fifty-eight folios now detached from its codex (Chester Beatty In 03). Extensively illustrated, these form volume two and part of volume three of the biography of the Mughal emperor Akbar (r. 1556-1605), composed by his court historian and minister Abu’l-Fazl `Allami.
