Book of prayers (An`ām Sharīf), including Qur'an selections and the Guide to Happiness, by al-Jazūlī (d. 1465). Codex, ink, colours and gold on paper, 135 folios, Arabic text in naskh script, with illuminated double page (chahar-lawh, fol. 1v-2r, and hilye, fol. 49v-50r), section headings (sarlawh, fols. 52v, 64v), and subheadings and margin ornaments throughout, and scenes of Mecca and Medina (fols. 62v-63r), (1: fols. 1v-47v) 32 suras of the Qur'an, starting with Sura 2 (al-Fātiḥa) and 6 (al-An`ām), (2: fols. 47v-48v) 99 Names of God, (3: fols. 49r-50r) Hilye al-Nabī, (4: fols. 52v-135v) Guide to Happiness and the Shinings of Lights, for reciting the prayer to bless the chosen Prophet (Dalā'il al-khayrāt wa shawāriq al-anwār fī dhikr al-ṣalāt ‘ala Nabī al-Mukhtar), by Abū `Abdullāh Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān ibn Abī Bakr al-Jazūlī (d. 1465), copied by `Uthmān ibn `Umar (colophon on fol. 135r), probably Istanbul, Turkey, dated 4 Shawwal 1162H, 17 September 1749.
