Codex, ink, colours and gold on paper, leather bookbinding with blind-tooling and gold detail, 109 folios, Arabic text in muhaqqaq script (thuluth and kufic for sura headings, thuluth in margin panels), with illuminated frontispiece (one half of a chahar-lawh double page, fol. 1r) and finispiece verse-markers and margin panels throughout, Juz’ 7 of the Qur'an (Sura 5:83 to 6:110), unsigned, northwestern Iran, c. 1175-1225, from a 30-volume set dedicated in 1288 by Qarākhiṭā’ī princess Bībī Tarkān in honour of her parents, Quṭb al-Dīn Muḥammad (d. 1257) and Qutlugh Tarkān Khātun (d. 1283), both rulers of Kerman.
