Notes
Papyrus letter about finding a new tenant and selling a pearl in Fusṭāṭ, and a statement of accounts. Folio fragment, ink on light to medium brown papyrus, mounted on paper and framed under glass, Arabic text, written perpendicular to the fibres, two separate documents, (on recto:) letter from a property-owner in Fayyūm asking a friend in Fusṭāṭ to get his estate agent Zayd ibn Muzāḥim to find a new tenant for a recently-vacated room with the rent set between 6 and 8 dinars a year, and then as a postscript, he asks the friend to follow up an expected payment of 16 dinars for a pearl that was recently sold by `Alā’ the jeweller, (on verso, added later:) list of accounts, in two columns, recording personal names and the money owed or received (in dirhams), unsigned, al-Fayyūm, Egypt, undated, c. 800-900
