Notes
Complete Works (Kulliyāt), by Sa'di. This is an early compilation of the complete works of the renowned Shiraz poet Sa`di. Spread across two illuminated pages (fols. 1v-2r), the table of contents is organised in two facing medallions, listing (anticlockwise) eight poetry book titles each, and a grid below, listing seven treatises. The manuscript text was never fully copied out, however, and stops after Kitab al-tarji`at (book of refrain poems). Codex, ink, colours, and gold on paper, 78 folios, Persian text in naskh script, illuminated contents list and headings, the Complete Works (Kulliyāt) of Sa'di (c. 1210-1292), introduction (added by a later compiler), double-page illuminated contents list (fols. 1v-2r) listing 23 works (seven treatises (risalat) and sixteen books (kitab), of which only eleven are present), possibly Shiraz, Iran, unsigned, undated, c. 1380
