Notes	Papyrus roll preserving the Book of Breathing of Khonsdjehuty, dated to c. 100 AD and made in Egypt. The text drew heavily from the Book of the Dead corpus of funerary texts, and was written as an 'official document' granting the deceased breath (life) after death. The owner is named as 'treasury guard of the Amun domina' Khonsdjehuty, son of Hery and Nebetwedjat. The upper vignette depicts Anubis (jackal-headed embalmer god) leading Khonsdjehuty to Osiris. Isis, Nephthys and Horus stand behind. The lower vignette shows the deceased presenting an offering to the bull-god Apis, who escorted the deceased over the border between death and the afterlife. Apis was associated with the Temple of Ptah at Memphis. The vertical and horizontal 'folds' demonstrate how the roll was folded. It was probably placed at the head or feet of the deceased.
