Notes Akbar's forces defeat the Gakhar hill chieftain Sultan Adam in 1563, folio from the History of Akbar (Akbarnama) by Abu’l-Fazl. Detached folio, ink, pigments and gold on paper, Persian text and full-page painting inscribed to Sur Das, Agra, India, c. 1603-1605. This is one of fifty-eight folios now detached from its codex (Chester Beatty In 03). Extensively illustrated, these form volume two and part of volume three of the biography of the Mughal emperor Akbar (r. 1556-1605), composed by his court historian and minister Abu’l-Fazl `Allami.
