Papyrus tax receipt and payment register. Folio fragment, ink on fine, light brown papyrus, mounted on paper and framed under glass, broken off on left edge (recto) with substantial text loss, Arabic text, written with a fine pen parallel to the fibres (on recto) and perpendicular to the fibres (on verso), (recto:) tax receipt for Muḥammad son of `Abdullāh, (verso:) six columns of figures, using Greek letters as numerals, for a register of payments or impositions presumably also linked to taxation, text on verso written first, after which the folio was re-used to write the recto text, unsigned, Egypt, dated (on recto) 241-249H, 855-863.
