Groom leading his horse, by Reẓā `Abbāsī (d. 1635). Album folio, ink, colours and gold on paper, mounted on card, tinted drawing of a man leading his horse down a rocky slope, signed “Reẓā drew it” (mashqahu Reẓā, on a rock beneath the horse), bordered with illumination panels and Persian text in nasta`liq script, extracts from the Rose Garden (Gulistān) by Sa`dī and the Book of Kings (Shāhnāma) by Firdausi, within ruled borders on light blue-green paper frame with gold foliate scrollwork and further Persian verses, all mounted on green card album page with gold-painted floral scrollwork, drawing by Reẓā `Abbāsī (d. 1635), Isfahan, Iran, undated c. 1590-1600
