Farīdūn crosses the Tigris on his way to fight the tyrant Ẓaḥḥāk, from the Book of Kings (Shāhnāma). Folio, ink, colours and gold on paper, Persian verses in nasta`liq script, with framed rubric (recto: “Farīdūn goes to fight Ẓaḥḥāk, and crosses the river”) and painting (on verso), the Book of Kings (Shāhnāma) by Firdausi, artist’s name (Miḥrāb?) inscribed above painting, probably Qazvin, Iran, undated, c. 1570-1585
