Forty Traditions (Arba`ūn Ḥadīth), by Jāmī. Codex, ink, colours and gold on paper, 9 folios, Arabic and Persian text in nasta`liq script, illuminated shamsas with owner's seal impression (fols. 1r, 9v), illuminated heading (sarlawh, fol. 1v), and tinted drawing (fol. 2r, inserted seventeenth century), gold-flecked marbled borders throughout, Forty Traditions (Arba`ūn Ḥadīth), Arabic text in larger script followed by Persian paraphrase and commentary, composed 1481 by `Abd al-Raḥmān Nūr al-Dīn Jāmī (1414-1492), copied by Shah Mahmud Nishapuri, Mashhad, Iran, dated 964H, 1557.
