Qur’ān for Ottoman grand vizier Sokollu Meḥmed Pāshā (d. 1579). Codex, ink, colours and gold on paper, leather bookbinding, 356 folios, Arabic text in rayhan and naskh scripts, with illuminated medallion (shamsa, fol. 1r), double page frontispiece (fols. 1v-2r), framed text (chahar-lawh, fols. 2v-3r, border 3v-4r), sura headings and marginal markers throughout, complete text of the Qur’ān, with concluding Khatm prayer (fol. 355r), dedicated (fols. 355v-356r) to Sokollu Meḥmed Pāshā (1505-1579, at this time grand vizier to Ottoman sultan Selim II), signed (fol. 356v) by Ḥasan ibn Aḥmad al-Qaraḥiṣārī (Ḥasan Çelebi, d. 1594), Istanbul, Turkey, dated Ramadan 977H, February 1570.
