Juz' 12 of the Sinjar Qur'an. Written out in gold thuluth script, this manuscript is from a thirty-volume set, now dispersed in worldwide collections. The twenty-eighth volume (in the Khalili Collection, London) includes a statement on the original commission: the set was produced in 1211 (607H), for the library of one of the last rulers of the Zangid dynasty Qutb al-Din Muhammad, in Sinjar (northern Iraq). Codex, ink, colours and gold on paper, tooled leather bookbinding, 51 folios, Arabic text in gold thuluth script, with headings in gold eastern kufic script, illuminated frontispiece (fol. 1r) and finispiece (fol. 52v), Juz' 12 of the Qur'an (Sura 11:6 to 12:52) from a thirty-volume set made for the library (khizāna) of Quṭb al-Dīn Abū al-Muẓaffar Muḥammad ibn Zangī ibn Mawdūd ibn Zangī ibn Aqsunqur (r. 1198-1219), Sinjar, Iraq, 1211.
