Notes
Papyrus letters with agricultural discussions. Folio fragment, ink on light brown papyrus, mounted on paper and framed under glass, Arabic text, written with a thick pen parallel to the fibres on recto, and in large well-spaced hand on the verso, two separate letters about agricultural work, (recto:) letter referring to plots of land for ploughing (ḥarth) or leaving fallow (fa-qad ʿaṭṭalat/ʿaṭṭaltu), and to other unnamed correspondents and messengers, (verso:) letter beginning and ending with polite blessings wished upon the (unnamed) addressee, first used on the verso side then cut for re-use on the recto, unsigned, Egypt, undated, c. 800-900.
