Papyrus letter and agricultural lease . Folio fragment, ink on dark brown papyrus, mounted on paper and framed under glass, broken off on all sides with text loss of text at top, left and right edges, Arabic text, written in a practiced cursive hand perpendicular to the fibres (on recto), and in a large hand with a thicker pen parallel to the fibres (on verso), two un-related documents, (recto:) agricultural lease (qabāla), witnessed document leasing one faddān of land for the cultivation of wheat, issued to Muḥammad son of `Abdullāh, (verso:) probably a letter, unsigned, Egypt, dated (on recto) between 271-279H or 291-299H, c. 884-911.
