Notes Qur'an scroll. Measuring over 7m in length, this narrow paper scroll contains the full text of the Qur'an, neatly written in tiny script. At the leather flap, the initial part of the scroll holds a series of Arabic inscription panels in banna'i script (also called square kufic), written here in black on white squared paper, but more commonly found in tiled architecture. Further banna'i inscriptions also line the border of the main text. Scroll, ink, colours and gold on paper, green cloth backing support, gold-painted leather flap with woven cotton band, Arabic text in naskh and banna'i (square kufic) scripts, with illuminated heading (sarlawh) and inscribed medallions, squares and stepped cartouches at the start, complete Qur'an, with additional prayers, possibly Shiraz, Iran, c. 1500-1600
