Folio, ink, colours and gold on paper, Persian text in nasta`liq script, with painting (on verso), from the Garden of purity on the lives of prophets, kings and caliphs (Rawḍat al-ṣafā fī sīrat al-anbiyā’ wa al-mulūk wa al-khulafā’), by Muḥammad Khawāndshāh ibn Maḥmūd, or Mīr Khwānd (d. 1498), volume 2 of his universal history, describes the biographies of the Prophet Muḥammad and the four Rashidun Caliphs, copied by Maḥmūd ibn Hājjī al-Jahramī, probably Shiraz, Iran, dated 24 Rajab 1003H, 4 April 1595.
