Notes Double frontispiece, from The Treasure of the Khwarazmshah (Zakhira-yi Khwarazmshahi), by Zayn al-Din al-Jurjani. These two folios introduce a medical encyclopaedia, and are now detached from the rest of the manuscript (also in this museum, In 30). The book was produced in Golconda, and has been associated with the court of Sultan Ibrahim Qutb-Shah (r. 1550-1580), although he is not mentioned by name. Filled with angels, red dragons and simurgh birds, the double frontispiece presents an elaborate illuminated frame around the opening text, which is written on a gold ground. Double folio, ink, colours and gold on paper, Persian text in naskh script, two folios detached from codex (In 30), Treasure of the Khwarazmshah (Zakhira-yi Khwarazmshahi), by Zayn al-Din Abu Ibrahim Isma`il al-Jurjani (d. 1135), originally composed 1110-11 (504H), medical encyclopaedia, copied by Baba Mirak of Herat, known as Muhammad Sa`id, Golconda, Deccan, India, dated (colophon f. 605v) 22 Sha`ban 980H, 1572.
