Letter by Mirza Abu al-Qasim Qa'im Maqam to his brother Mirza Musa Khan about the peace treaty of Erzurum between Iran and the Ottoman Empire.In Farhang-i Iran Zamin 12 (1343/1965), pp. 298-301, there is an article by 'Abd al-'Ali Karang with a facsimile and edition of the same document. He states that the letter is a farman by Muhammad Shah dated on Sha'ban 1243 about the peace treaty of Turkmanchai between Iran and Russia. The author of the present article proves this thesis wrong arguing that the mentioned Shah Muhammad was not yet in power at this time. In his opinion, style and script hint at another author, Mirza Abu al-Qasim Qa'im Maqam, who is thought to have sent this letter dealing with the peace treaty of Erzurum between Iran and the Ottoman Empire from Tihran to his brother Mirza Musa Khan. The afore mentioned misinterpretation was caused by illegible passages of the text. Therefore a new edition of the text is presented. Both versions are included at the present entry.
