Notes Sultan Fuad I’s letter was sent to Sorolla by Garcia Herreros. It is an invitation to spend one year with his family in the palaces of Cairo, where the painter could reside and work freely. All this is part of the artistic policy that was intended to attract well-known Western artists to the Egyptian sultan's court. Unfortunately, Sorolla was never able to take this trip, but from a letter to his wife we know the excitement that was caused by the idea of spending time in Egypt.
