Today, the majority of global energy demand is met by fossil energy sources. The fact that the climate change problem has turned into a global crisis and that this situation poses a great threat to sustainability, and the environmental damage of existing fossil energy sources such as oil, natural gas and coal, and the uncertainty in the future, reveal the fact that the only way to find a solution is to turn to renewable energy sources. It is now accepted by the whole world that energy and heat production from renewable energy sources is vital in the fight against the climate crisis and for a sustainable economy and environment. In this axis, countries use practices that encourage renewable energy sources in order to continue their economic growth, reduce their external dependency, and most importantly, combat the climate crisis for sustainability. The aim of this study is to examine the incentives for renewable energy investments in Türkiye, some selected countries in the European Union and the United Kingdom, and to reveal the incentive models and types that countries apply for the fight against climate change and for a sustainable future. Today, a substantial part of the global energy demand is met with fossil energy resources. Focusing on renewable energy resources appears to be the only way for solution considering that climate change turned into a global crisis, the great risk this situation creates on sustainability and environmental damages of and uncertainties about the future of the existing fossil energy resources such as oil, natural gas and coal. There is now consensus around the globe about the fact that generation of energy and heat with renewable energy resources is of vital importance for combatting the crisis climate and ensuring a sustainable economy. For this purpose, countries adopt incentive policies for maintaining the economic growth, encouraging to renewable energy resources, reducing external dependence and more importantly, combatting the climate crisis. The objective of this study is to analyze renewable energy incentives in Turkey, selected European Union member states and the United Kingdom, and describe models and types of incentives implemented by these countries for in order to combat the climate change and for a sustainable future.
