It is clear that doping practices in sports competitions contradict the nature of sports and the principles of equality and justice in the competition, and that the doping athlete unfairly gains an advantage over other athletes. In this study, the legal aspect of doping, which has generally been examined in its medical and pharmacological aspects until today, is examined within the framework of rules and judicial decisions that change and develop over time. Sports law is a branch of law with its own characteristics that carries the principles of both private law and public law. The legal situation regarding doping, which is under sports law, also has its own unique principles and practices. In this study, the legal structure on doping was determined, the bans on doping, the methods and rules regarding doping control, the unique procedural and fundamental rules regarding the trial of people who were found to have committed doping violations were examined, and in some cases, light was shed on the law of doping by determining how the legal situation on this issue has changed from past to present. In this context, in the first part of our study, the background of doping is explained, the definition of doping, its history, the reasons for its ban are explained, and the beginning of the fight against doping is examined. In the second part of our study, the procedural rules for doping and doping control and defined doping violations were examined together, the interrelated ones were examined together, and the relevant legal and ethical debates were discussed. In the third part of our study, the rules on trial procedures are examined, especially with the judicial decisions, and it is explained how a person who commits a doping violation is tried before the competent boards. It is obvious that doping within sports is a violation to sports nature, equality and justice. Moreover, athletes who engage in doping gain an unnatural advantage over other competitors. In sports, previous research has been extensively investigated medical and pharmacological dimensions of doping, and thus this study will approach the topic from a legal perspective. Sports law is a special area which is impacted upon by both private and public law, and therefore, the law which underpins doping in sport has its own special principles in which private and public law principles are applied together. In this study our aim is to reveal the structure of the regulations, procedures and prohibitions, and according to these rules, how subsequently an individual who commits a doping violation is judged by an authorized court. In addition, a discussion will be presented considering how the regulations have developed and changed over time. The main method used within this study is to conduct research concerning the regulations surrounding doping, whilst discussing and interpreting the relevant laws with consideration for the court decisions. Utilizing this method, in the first chapter we'll reveal the background of doping, whilst discussing the reasons as to why it's prohibited and explaining the beginning of anti-doping regulations. Next, the second chapter will analyze the relevant prohibitions and procedures together with ethical and legal discussions and dilemmas about doping, whilst the last chapter will consider the judicial procedures with the relevant court decisions.
