سعدي، أبو عبد الله مشرّف الدين بن مصلح (الدين) (توفي 691هـ / 1292م)، ألّف كتاب البستان، وهو أول أعماله المنشورة. يضم الكتاب حكايات أخلاقية تتداخل فيها روايات عن أسفار المؤلف وتجاربه المتعددة، وقد أصبح لاحقًا أحد أهم أعماله. كُتبت هذه النسخة بخط النستعليق في تبريز نحو 937–947هـ / حوالي 1530–1540م. وتحتوي المخطوطة على خمس لوحات تصويرية تكاد تكون بصفحة كاملة. وتذكّر هذه اللوحات بأسلوب المدرسة التيمورية في هراة. وفي عام 1677، اقتُنيت المخطوطة في القسطنطينية مقابل 36 دوقية ذهبية.

Cilt
The luxuriously painted lacquer binding has a leather spine and leather edges. On the front cover, a group of people are depicted within a lush garden of flowering shrubs spread across the black background. A prince is sitting behind a spread-out red cloth with plates of food and a jug in the centre. He is holding a golden wine bowl while a kneeling courtier on the left serves a plate of pomegranates. In a semicircle around and above them, various figures sit or stand with drinking vessels or pomegranates in their hands. Below them, on the right, is a (poorly conserved) seated group; on the left are three musicians with a tambourine, a flute, and a lute. All figures wear the Safavid staff turban and a long two-piece robe covered with gold patterns in bright saffron, orange, and red colour as well as in dark green and blue.On the back cover, a courtly hunting scene is depicted within dense foliage and clouds at the top, including archers on horseback chasing lions, panthers, gazelles, and hares, as well as one falconer at the top right. It is a dynamic composition with five riders approaching from different sides, the movement of the horses and gestures of the figures are animated and varied. Fine mother-of-pearl dust is mixed into the colours that comprise the clouds, stones, and rocks. Related lacquer bindings can be found in the British Library (Or. 1374) and in the British Museum (no. 1948 12-11027-8).
