Notlar Ms. codex., Title supplied by cataloguer., Layout: Written mainly in 13 lines per page (single column) ; occasionally 2-4 lines accompanied by painting., Script: Nastaʻlīq ; bold Indian hand in a medium to heavy line ; serifless, with marked effect of words descending to baseline, elongation and exaggerated thickness of horizontal strokes, pointing mainly in distinct or conjoined dots, point of final nūn set just down in wide, slightly angled bowl., Decoration: Section headings rubricated ; overlining in red ; written area surrounded by frame of gold bands ; illustrated with several nearly full-page miniature paintings., Binding: Pasteboards covered in dark green cloth ; Type III (without flap) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in comb marbled paper ; upper and lower covers gold-painted with vegetal border., Origin: As appears in colophon / patronage statement at close on fol.305a, transcription seemingly completed in Kashmir by the author Pandit Ṭūṭahʹram (or Pandit T̤ot̤āram) known as Ṭūṭah Barahman Kashmīrī (or T̤ot̤ā Brahman Kashmīrī) during the reign of Ranjit Singh on the order of Lālah Chandar Bhānʹjī. Date reading of 1692 (presumably Vikram Samvat) implies 1635 CE. More likely intended was 1892 (i.e. reading of hasht ṣad v. shash ṣad) which would imply 1835., Shelfmark: Madison, University of Wisconsin, MS 209, In Persian.
