Binding: Black leather over thin pasteboard; blind-stamped central mandorla and pendants, foliate paper doublures. Decoration: Astronomical diagrams (ff. 34a, 36a-b, 39b); rubrication. Later manuscript annotations throughout, including commentary on text, incomplete table of contents (Fihrist) (recto first flyleaf) and healing amulet below the colophon (f.82a), as well as mathematical calculations and a poem (f. 82b). A work of taxonomy, Netāyicü'l-fünūn classifies and describes sciences or branches of knowledge including history, philosophy, astronomical theory, theology, jurisprudence, juridical disagreement, Quranic exegesis, Sufism, dream interpretation, enchantment and incantations, medicine, agriculture, astronomy, and divination and ornithomancy. Includes numerous minhu records (that is, marginal glosses attributed to the text's author) in Ottoman Turkish, Arabic, and Persian. Folio 38, with text in Arabic (recto) and Ottoman Turkish (verso), added later.
