Notlar	This file contains correspondence regarding the maintenance of law and order in Bahrain. Much of the correspondence in the file relates to the murder of a woman in Hedd (al-Hidd). This correspondence discusses whether or not the culprits of the murder (who were relatives of the woman killed) should be sentenced to death as well as the broader political implications of the case. Also enclosed is a letter regarding the case (in English and Arabic) from the Ruler of Bahrain, Shaikh Ḥamad bin ‘Īsá Āl Khalīfah to Captain George Ashmead Cole, Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. in Bahrain (f 20). The file also contains correspondence concerning the possibility of public unrest in Bahrain and how it should be dealt with. In this context, the file contains a copy of 'A Formula for the Guidance of Officers Dealing with Riot (sic)' written by Major-General H E Ap Rhys Price (ff 3-6).
