This Persian anthology consists of five major works by the poet Nizami Ganjavi, composed between 1166 and 1194: Treasury of Secrets (Makhzan al-Asrar), Khusrau and Shirin, Layla and Majnun, the Seven Portraits (Haft Paykar) and the Book of Alexander (Iskandarnama). This densely-illustrated copy was made in Shiraz, in 1492. Codex, ink, gold on colours on paper, 238 folios, Persian poetry in nasta`liq script, headings in thuluth script, the Five Poems (Khamsa) by Nizami, double page inscribed shamsa medallions, double page illuminated title-page, 31 paintings (including double page frontispiece), copied by Muhammad ibn Nasrullah ibn Fazlullah al-Murshidi al-Shirazi, Shiraz, Iran, dated 8 Dhu'l-Qa`dah 897H, 1 September 1492
